Creative Process
Growing up in a family with scientists, I was fascinated by the scientific illustrations in their books and was inspired to learn highly technical skills in drawing. I started my career making botanical illustrations because of this interest. I am committed to continuing my professional growth and challenge myself to try techniques and processes I have not explored before.
Artistic Vision
My artistic vision is always focused on realism, especially in my drawings and paintings Within the genre of woodcuts realism is also important but there is space to be playful, expressive and painterly. I approach each print as a unique work, as I would a painting. I have developed a personal printmaking style often intersecting printing and painting techniques.
Current Direction of work
I love the challenge of a complex subject and this is reflected in my current work. I draw and paint either from life or my own photographs. My work is entirely my own.
